Milwaukee to Muktinath: Mama Tried Show Takes on Nepal

For over ten years, the Mama Tried Motorcycle Show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has been one of the premiere motorcycle shows in the United States, featuring some of the best custom motorcycles and flat track racing around.

And now, they’re ready to kick it up another notch.

Motorcycle Sherpa is proud to partner with the Mama Tried Motorcycle Show to offer a special signature edition Ride to the Heavens tour in Nepal from March 1-10 2026. This is your opportunity to ride handlebar to handlebar with the founders of Mama Tried and Flat Out Friday, Scott and Warren, as they trade the streets of Milwaukee for the winding mountain passes of the Himalayas.

A Brief History of Mama Tried Motorcycle Show

Founded by Scott Johnson and Warren Heir in Milwaukee in 2014, Mama Tried is an indoor custom motorcycle show that takes place every February.

Milwaukee may be the home of Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, but it also is home to long, cold winters. As any motorcyclist knows, the winter season can be a real drag while waiting for the weather to break, and that’s exactly why the Mama Tried Motorcycle Show was born: to keep the spirit of riding alive when the roads are still covered in snow and the cold keeps you inside.

The first edition of the show was held in an old candy factory in downtown Milwaukee, not far from the Harley-Davidson Museum and campus. This inaugural event featured 50 custom bikes that spanned different styles and aesthetics — choppers, flat-trackers, hill climbers, and stunt bikes —  and drew enough of a crowd that Scott and Warren decided to keep it going.

Since then, the event has grown and evolved to become one of the coolest and most prestigious custom motorcycle shows in the country. Having outgrown the original venue, the event is now held at the Rave/Eagle’s Ballroom, a historic venue in Milwaukee that is large enough to accommodate the 100+ custom bikes on display as well as a wide variety of some of the best motorcycle inspired vendors around.

Mama Tried Motorcycle Show has also grown to a weekend long event. Flat Out Friday kicks things off with indoor flat track racing at Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum and is always a great time for the whole family. The weekend continues with the show itself happening over Saturday and Sunday with various after parties and events happening throughout the city all weekend long.

Riding to the Heavens

Motorcycle Sherpa has been offering high elevation motorcycle expeditions since 2018, guiding hundreds of riders through the highest peaks of the Himalayas and beyond. Founded by legendary motorcyclist Bear Haughton, Motorcycle Sherpa’s signature Ride to the Heavens Tour in Nepal takes riders from the bustling Kathmandu valley to the top of the majestic Annapurna range and rugged Mustang valley.

The tour culminates at Muktinath, an ancient Vishnu temple that is both a pilgrimage site for Buddhist and Hindus as well as one of the highest elevation temples in the entire world.

Motorcycle Sherpa prides itself in crafting a truly unforgettable motorcycle experience from start to finish. Riders are greeted at the Kathmandu airport with transportation provided to your 5 star accommodations. One of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world, you’ll get to experience some of the most famous sites Kathmandu has to offer as well as some hidden gems before setting out on an epic journey through the Himalayas.

From the Kathmandu Valley, the ride will steadily gain in elevation, with the Himalayas and Annapurna range coming closer into focus with each kilometer. Through rugged terrain and over Nepal’s famous suspension bridges, you’ll visit thousand-year-old temples, sip fresh chai at roadside tea stops, eat authentic Nepali momos, and marvel at the landscape at the roof of the world.
